    All Things Creepy

    Posted in: Life

Meet Dinosaur and Spider. Original names, I know.

Jason asked me the other day to be on the look out for dinosaur toys that can go in the tub. Mission accomplished, however I wasn’t expecting these things to make their way OUT of the porcelain tub. In fact, the first night of dino playtime, Wyatt had to stand there with panic and watch all the water go down to make certain his new friends didn’t go down the drain too.

I jokingly got the spider. It’s ugly and I hate spiders and I secretly wanted to share my distaste for this creature with my daughter. I made one mistake however and I purchased a spider that was purple.

Evi calls the spider: Purplicious, after one of her favorite books.

    {{sigh}}

So, these lovely things rarely leave their sides.

And it’s gross. Not just because of what they are, but we have a white long hair dog and well…take a close look, it’s impossible to keep these things clean.

    They eat with us…

    They travel with us…

    They bath with us…

…and yes, they sleep soundly beside my blessed.

    I never really participated in Halloween traditions when I was growing up. I can count on a few fingers the times I actually managed to have a costume and shamelessly ring people’s doorbells and ask for hand outs. {{Okay a bit extreme}}

The nail in the coffin {{pun intended}}, was the year I was a punk rocker for a Halloween birthday party for Karen. I wore my mom’s black leather pants, yes…she was a cool mom. Back in that decade when punk was the scene in Seattle and well…living an hour from Seattle…purple hairspray was not hard to find. My mom and I almost used an entire bottle. I looked the part. Teased hair and PURPLE and oh the make up matched the part too. The easy part about this costume, was the make up and clothes came right off. The hairspray??? Not so much. I sported purple hair for a short while until my mom was able to make an appointment at the beauty place to get my hair professionally treated. And let me tell you…purple hair and private school….not so much.

My little cowboy. Very proud to be Woody and if Jason had his way, Wyatt would have been holstering an empty pistol.

And what cowboy isn’t complete without his cowgirl, Jesse.

Before you say it, YES…I probably could have put her in pig tails, but people…this momma was just happy to have them dressed and pizza rolls sitting on the table.

The neighbor boy showed up as Buzz and if you ask me, I think Evelyn was a bit Star Struck.

What was only going to be 1 or 2 houses, actually ended up being 8 or 9. Woody and Jesse were completely enjoying themselves.

This new found activity required bold independence and whenever these two are faced with something new and bold, their independence shines. Making this momma realize they are growing up all too fast.

Notice Woody wanting his cohorts to hurry up a bit and proceeding to give a little nudge.

I painfully joke they won’t need me next year as I was told at the last house to stay at the bottom of the driveway {{how is this possible?}}.

And Evi, darling…you can never have purple hair.

    Happy Harvest Everyone!

Contrary to popular belief, I do get out and about. Granted my desk (aka, iPhone) is usually chained around my ankle, but I do get out and try and breath in as much of my family as possible. We managed to get away for a quick trip up North for Labor Day Weekend. It was the first ‘real’ (8 hours in the car) road trip for the kids and they truly impressed me with their ease of travel. Of course, Tinkerbell was playing on the screens behind our head rests (removable and only used in trips like these), but they impressed nonetheless.

    We stopped at Gooseberry Falls.

They first heard the waterfalls….then majestically there they were.

    Look Momma!

    Waaaa-errrrfff-fall!!!

    She’s getting so big

…and so this big little man

This was as close to the edge of the one of waterfalls I could manage without entirely holding my breath. I know it’s crazy…to get them that close even, but I wanted the picture. It’s kinda like the time I let them play on active train tracks and then a train started rounding the corner. What??? I didn’t tell you about that? Oh, I will. Great pictures with that post too!

They enjoyed sitting there and I think realized how nervous I was because they were EXTRA careful getting up. Before you panic, I WAS standing right there.

I won’t bother with telling you where I had to stand to get THIS picture. yikes….but oh so worth it.

And before we knew it, we were back to the trail to hit the road

Evi likes leading the way and when we’re not going fast enough she gives us THIS look

and if my memory serves me well, I believe my parents have an image exactly like this of me standing on a trail, covered in shade, with this same look.

Happy Monday everyone, be blessed with what you’re given and take time to pause and breath it in.

    Have you missed me????

I’ve missed putting my daily moments in writing.

    I can say

    OOPS!

life has been too busy (which it has), but this is my form of ‘me time’ and I need to make more time for it. Plus I have such dang cute kids who are saying the funniest things.

For example: Yesterday we headed over to YiaYia and PaPa’s house for dinner. We were sitting at a red light which has become exciting and loud as the kids shout “GO MOMMA!”. Obviously I cannot ‘go’….

    1. I don’t have a hummer to plow through the cars in front of me and

    2. I can’t afford for my insurance to go up

….the light turned green and as I started to gain momentum…

EVI: ‘There you go, there you go…you can do it’

Thanks darling…I need the encouragement as if I was the “little engine that could’. I’m even sure where she got that one, but it gave me a good giggle.

We’ve been having a wonderful summer. I’ve been sifting through my photos and I’ll be posting them soon. When you take a vacation from blogging you realize how much you have to say and the pictures you want to post. I’ve needed to take this summer though and just enjoy.

Much happening though….and I’m excited to share it all. We’re entering my favorite season FALL and Jason and I are already anticipating the ground covered with snow. I have recipes I want to share, videos to post, pictures from our trip up North to Grand Marais to brag about.

    aahhhhhh, good to be back.

    so Posh….

    Posted in: Shop Talk

At last, the previous 30 days have been quick, fast paced, full of To Do’s. Posh Bridal Couture opened its doors today. I’m not sure what my ordeal is with cramming build outs into 30 days. Marie worked hard along with the crew. I permanently smell paint, but after standing in the shop this morning surrounded by gorgeous dresses it was calm and I didn’t mind the previous long weekends. I could sit in there all day, but I think Marie would kick me out. Good thing….I have plenty of work keeping me busy downstairs at Watermark.

I like the sound of that….downstairs.

Posh and Watermark in the same building.

The concept was first mentioned at a wine lunch between Marie and I. Our steak and bacon salads were a good excuse to make it a routine thing. With a glass of wine the two of us started to forge this friendship and mutual respect for each other as mothers and business owners in one of the toughest markets out there.

    It finally happened!
